Hey! Next time, try this on the flour bomb contest:
First you need to know how long it takes for the bomb to hit the ground
where h= height and g
= gravity (32)
Next, you need to know the distance you will be traveling in the time it
takes for the flour bomb to hit the ground.
d = v t where v = velocity (fps).
Sound simple? Let's try a sample:
Let's say you're going 80 mph (117 fps) and you're 200 feet
agl.
First, let's calculate the time:
Now, let's calculate the distance:
d = v t = 117 fps (3.5) = 409.5 feet
If you have a calculator handy:
inv tan = d/h = 409.5/200 = 63.4 degrees
Now, draw a 63-1/2 degree angle on a piece of paper and tape it on
window for a bomb site and you're ready to go!
So, if you drop the flour bomb 409.5 feet before you get to the target
you'll hit the mark ( or be beside it if you're not lined up correctly
and, you're going exactly 80mph and 200ft agl).
